weird weekend. good, but weird.
deb, ha, chi, and david came down to san diego yesterday morning around 10. met them in the parking lot. hugs all around. walked them to my apartment and just chilled for a few minutes. then it was off to the san diego zoo. i've been living in san diego for over a year, and it was my first time going. it was very...interesting. we saw a lot of interesting animals at the zoo doing some interesting things. okay, we saw gay lion sex. it was actually a bit disturbing. reminded david of prison. [haha, that last sentence sounds so wrong, but it's funny so i'll keep it.] the whole zoo was pretty cool. we got tired of walking around so much though especially since they hadn't slept much the night before. let's see...we saw hippos (a baby one and a momma one. the baby kept trying to swim up above the water but couldn't so his momma had to follow him around and repeatedly nudge him up. very very cute), giraffes, elephants (two had grass on their backs when they walked out of their little cave. deb said they must have been fooling around inside there), duikers, gazelles, loooooots of birds (thankfully, none crapped on us), a shy panda licking his toes, hogs, random monkeys, kangaroos, koalas (definitely a 10 on the cute factor), a huge python, polar (?) bears, other bears, a seal, otters, apes, and....i dunno, a lot of other animals that i don't know the names to. we basically just wandered around the zoo with no real direction. luckily, we ran into a shuttle that was taking people to the exit so we got on because we just did not want to walk around anymore. the driver was a really cool guy. pretty funny too. he was like, "so did you guys see the two-headed gazelle?" and everyone was like, "what?! really?? where??" and the driver was like, "yeah, he was born here just last week." and everyone was like, "woow...." so finally the guy said, "yeah, i'm just kidding." you shoulda seen the look on deb's face. she was so surprised. *cough*gullible*cough*.
so we left the zoo around 430, about half an hour before closing time, and came back to my apartment. waited for chi and chris to come, so when they did we left for islands to eat dinner. me and ha ate lots. well...it just felt like a lot. was *definitely* full afterward. david had a bug in his lemonade so we asked the waitress for another one and she returned with another glass of lemonade that had ANOTHER bug in it so we told her again and she was like, "hmm...that's weird. there must be something wrong with the machine." yeah, definitely not the right thing to say. but when she came back, she said she used another machine. so she SAID. but yeah, third time's the charm. no bug in this one. then we celebrated chris's birthday a bit early (three days early to be precise) and the waitress brought out a piece of this coffee-flavored ice cream cake thing which me and ha ate most of.
and then...we went back to my apartment and watched the best of whose line is it anyway. that show is hilarious. and the best of show was just super-hilarious. aaall the funniest moments packed into one hour. it was great. then we watched the last half of the golden globes. i'm so sad. i missed pretty much all of alias except like the last five minutes. and guess what?! i just found out this morning that jennifer garner (the lead actress in alias) won a golden globe for alias!! and i *missed* her speech!! apparently, it was "the most genuinely authentic" speech according to E! Online. and i missed it. =|
so we just watched a little more tv and then went to sleep really early. around 1 am. although, now that i think about it, that's about when i go to sleep these days anyway...well, a little later than my usual bedtime, actually. but it was early for them. then we woke up this morning around 9, 930ish and yeah. took a few pictures and they left this morning around 1030. =| i'm sad now. that was a nice little break. now i have to do work and go back to class. and i have an 8 am tomorrow. gross. it felt really weird to have them down here though. a good weird, but still really weird. chris agrees with me. cuz usually, i just think of all of them (except chi) as being really really far away (over 450 miles), so it was just, you guessed it, weird. that's all i can think of to say. weird, but good.
okay, before i get any more redundant, i'm going to go...pretend to do work. all right, i'm just gonna watch tv. bye.
