things that suck:

- supermarket strike. employees of vons, ralphs, and albertsons have ALL gone on strike. they are outside picketing EVERY SINGLE vons, ralphs, and albertsons store in all of socal. or at least san diego and los angeles, which is big enough. they have been on strike for almost a week now and are not expecting to stop any time soon. while i do feel bad for them that their health benefits have been cut, now i'm just getting extremely annoyed. it's too difficult to cross the picket line because i've heard too many stories of the strikers harrassing people (spitting at people, cussing at people, etc). but at the same time, it's just too inconvenient to drive to other cities in order to go to one of the smaller (and more expensive) supermarkets like stater brothers, henry's, trader joe's, or whole foods. i went to costco today with the lab manager after my first day of testing at the preschool because she needed to get some things for a barbecue this weekend and i have a costco card. we went on a weekday at 1130 in the morning and it was just PACKED. it was just like a weekend. all because of this ridiculous supermarket strike. ARGH!

- miramar air show. thank god this is only once a year. but it's four days a year with three shows and a bunch of practices. and our house is RIGHT next to the marine base. which means we pretty much get the full brunt of all the figher jet sound effects. terrific. and on my way home today, i kept hearing these loud booms and felt the vibrations from them and got freaked out because i kept thinking that someone was hitting me from behind, but no, it was just the figher jets doing god knows what. and this will be going on ALL weekend. ARGH!!

things that don't suck:

- the weather. yes, it's supremely hot, but i'd rather it be hot and sunny than cold and gloomy.
