just got back from snowboarding. no broken bones, twisted limbs, or death. so it was fun. :) although really, i have to admit the fun factor was mostly due to being around my funny, hilarious girls again. ;D i love them.
so we left last night for davis. drove to berkeley first cuz deb and mar had to pick some stuff up, then went to jo's place and crashed overnight. we went to bed really early! midnight! but then, we had to wake up at like 5 am, so...yeah. so we woke up at 5 am...well, i did anyway. got ready blah blah blah, and drove to boreal. it was nice. hadn't seen snow while driving in a car since we went to ashland for the shakespeare festival. it was very pretty. :)
so we finally make it there in like, record time, apparently. no traffic, plus it was a week-day and a non-holiday. so we got there really early, like 830 or something. and we just rented all our stuff and crap. damn, super expensive. oh well, that's okay. then...we went outside and me, chris, and chi got a lesson from the super jo. she was an awesome instructor, she really was. yeah, the lessons package would've been cheaper but the lesson i received from jo was priceless [awww....]. so, my first run was extremely painful. i fell about every two feet. towards the bottom, my wrists hurt so much cuz i kept falling on them and i kept using them to haul myself back up. eventually, i just couldn't get up anymore. it hurt too much. and i just lay on the hills several times, just exhausted. it was so sad. but i started to get the hang of it. by the end of the day, i went down the hill twice without falling at all!! it was very exciting. okay, so i was going down the hill all retarded-like, but that's okay. it was great, anyway.
had a few ugly spills though. well, no, not really actually. compared to other people, my spills weren't all that bad. i just remember going "AHHH!!!" and "oof." a lot. i got hit in the back of the head with the lift chair i was sitting on too. see, i went up the lift with ha and she was sitting on the right and i was sitting on the left. i still hadn't realized that i'm better at getting off the lift if i sit on the right. so anyway, when we got off, i crashed into ha and got knocked down and the lift chair we were sitting on just swung by and whacked me in the back of the head knocking me down again. but with my quick thinking (or what was left of it anyway), i remembered what jo said, "if you fall, just get out of the way as quickly as possible," so i started crawling away as fast as i could and i kept saying, "I'M OKAY! I'M OKAY! I'M OKAY!" cuz i didn't want them to stop the lift or anything. but yeah, that was about the worst that happened to me.
oh yeah, this was my first time in the snow too. :) so jo had to teach me how to get on a lift. and that "get-away-as-quickly-as-possible-if-you-fall" thing was part of the lesson. but deb said i did pretty well for a beginner and for someone who has never been in the snow before, so i'm happy. :) oh yes, speaking of deb, she was wonderful. drove all the way to davis, then all the way to boreal, AND back. plus she lent me like, everything i was wearing - the jacket, the pants, the gloves, even a backpack (okay, so i wasn't wearing it, but she lent it to me anyway). she is SUPER. i love you, debra. ;D thanks so much for driving and everything.
unfortunately, my nose is now sunburnt. and i think i have like a burn on my forehead. the really bad thing is, it's only the lower half of my forehead because i was wearing a beanie the entire time. dammit! oh well.
really though, just hanging out and being with chris, san, mar, chi, deb, ha, and jo was so so SOOO much fun. hadn't seen san in so long!! and i realized how extremely deaf i am. and i just love it when you can just look at someone and start laughing for no reason whatsoever. it's that funny-unagi thing. ;D mar was funny too. her and her food. while we were eating dinner, she burped and said, "more room!!"
okay, i think i'm going to go take care of my burnt face and change clothes. today was fun. :) really, on our way there, i had images of me returning to san diego in a wheelchair or a cast.
