so when i was changing this morning, i discovered that, along with my remote control, my pajamas had turned red as well. okay, well, it didn't turn red. it just had like, random splotches of red on the tank and the pants. i was too tired to care, but when i got back just now, i ran to complain to sanaz. and detective sanaz solved the mystery of the random red splotches by figuring out that it had come from my red candle. i had been playing with it yesterday and some of the red coloring came off on my hands which then touched my remote control and my pajamas. that was really quite smart - sanaz's figuring out the problem, not my forgetting to wash my hands after touching the red candle.
hey, guess what. i may actually get to be a part of a real demonstration with picket signs and everything! went to the general info meeting for the fmla today. learned about title IX. i knew about it vaguely before, but got clarified on it today. it deals with a bunch of stuff, but the main part of it - the part that most people fix on - is the part about equal funding for women's sports. it just basically says that women's sports must have equal funding, equal to men's, that is (obviously). title IX has been in effect for the past thirty years and with great success (women's participation in college sports has increased by 300 something percent; in high school, it's increased by 800%), but now our brilliant president and his equally intelligent administration (the sarcasm has to be oozing off your computer screen) would like to amend, maybe even repeal, title IX. so they're holding all of these hearings everywhere, the reports of which will go to congress where both the house and senate will go over it, make their decisions, come together jointly, make a joint decision, and this decision will be their official recommendation to the president who will then make his decision. anyway, one of the hearings is scheduled to be in san diego in late november. fortunately, we know the date even though these sneaky conservatives have actually been hiding the date and location of these hearings until like two days before which totally hampers any attempts to mobilize an opposition at the hearing.
in any case, i think it'll be quite exciting. some honest-to-goodness grassroots activism. what i've been reading about in manifesta but haven't actually been a part of. maybe i'll stop shaving and burn my bra too! just kidding. i need my bra. and, okay, so i'm not really an athlete myself (don't even mention that disastrous year in track), but at least i have the chance to be one if i want to. and, more importantly, i want my daughter to have that same chance as well.
okay, well, enough serious talk. i was reading US magazine in the bookstore during my break and did you know that britney spears and nick carter are going out?! and justin timberlake and alyssa milano are going out! i thought alyssa milano was going out with one of the actors on charmed though. and, ARGH, i found out the other day on entertainment tonight or one of those shows that heath ledger is going out with naomi watts who, like heather graham, is way older than him! like, eleven years older!! i do not lie. oh well. i kind of like her more than heather graham anyway. but, dude, heath has a total thing for older women. when he was doing the tv show "roar" (where i first discovered him, btw. yes, i discovered him!!), he went out with one of the actresses on the show who was also way older than him. but then again, both main actresses on the show were older than him, but the one he was going with was like, much older. anyway. i'm never going to have a chance with him. and, okay, i really shouldn't complain about this. because, actually, it's a very feminist thing. if it's okay for women to date older men then why shouldn't it be okay for men to date older women? so, you see, my real problem isn't with the fact that heath has a thing for older women. my real problem is that heath doesn't have a thing for ME. psh. whatever. i'm totally over heath anyway. it's all about jimmy now. i think he's more my type anyway. you know, the goofy white boy type.
okay, i'm really hungry and i have to go pee now. yeah, i know it's a contradiction, but i don't know, my body's weird.
