so right after i posted that last blog, i found out that there was a fire burning really REALLY close to my house (like, within two minutes walking distance). it was the dry grass again. i don't know how it started though because it wasn't even that hot. but it was kind of breezy. and the wind was going in the direction of my house so pretty soon, the sky was covered by smoke. i saw the smoke first, then i heard fire truck sirens, then i smelled the smoke, then i thought, "hmm...there must be a fire." and, as usual, my mother was oblivious of the fire until i told her. to which she promptly began to panic and said, "get dressed and get ready to run!!" but i didn't. she got dressed though and then we went over to the window in the bathroom of the master bedroom and saw all the firefighters and fire trucks. there was even a firefighter helicopter going round and round our neighborhood. it was all very impressive. and slightly unnerving. my mother then walked out of the house to go see the fire. a lot of our neighbors did. she even met debra's mother and dog there. and then brought them back to our backyard to give them flowers and fruits and things. i could hear shasta and my dogs bitching at each other. for a minute there, i worried that my mother would tell debra's mother that debra was going to stay over at our house on saturday night (instead of being at berkeley where she told her parents she would be) but they didn't even talk about us at all. i don't know why, but i find it kind of amusing when my mother and debra's mother converse.
anyway... that was that.
