ooh, exciting news!

has absolutely nothing to do with me, but i found out over the weekend that "rent" is gonna be made into a movie with a lot of the original broadway cast!

at first, i was sort of iffy since a lot of them are much older now and it'll be a little hard to believe them as twenty somethings but i'm listening to the soundtrack right now and am getting really excited about it. rent is, by far, the best musical i've ever seen. okay, so i haven't seen that many stage musicals and i've never seen the original broadway cast perform. but rent is just so good and after i saw it the first time, i got the soundtrack and listened to it everyday when i ate lunch at ohlone during summer classes and fell in love with the original broadway cast. especially adam pascal (roger). very sexy. yum.

good news: they're keeping the original roger (adam pascal), mark (anthony rapp), tom collins (jesse l. martin - law & order, ally mcbeal), maureen (idina menzel), and benny (taye diggs). more good news: they didn't cast justin timberlake as roger as had been previously rumored. bad news: they cast rosario dawson as mimi. eew. weird news: chris columbus (harry potter, home alone) is directing it. hmm. a director who's primarily done family movies directing a movie about aids, transvestites, lesbians, and drug addicts? okaaay. no one's been cast as angel yet but i think the PERFECT person for angel would be jai from queer eye. he's even played angel before! and he's just so darn cute.

i'll admit it - i tried really really hard not to cry at the end when i saw it. sometimes i still cry when i listen to the soundtrack. it's just so...GOOD. shut up, i'm not lame, you're lame.

ooh, i'm so excited for this now!
