why men die.

so yesterday, i went shopping with debra. (no, that's not why men die. har har.) had me a little "jewelry makeover." my life is sorely lacking in accessories so, clearly, i had to buy new jewelry. and besides, debra held a gun up to my head and forced me to buy them. really, she did. what else could i do but buy the pretty new trinkets. sigh.

anyway, afterwards, we went to barnes to look for a GRE book. i picked that up right away but we spent some more time just flipping through cookbooks, brain teaser books, and other random books. one that caught our eye was called why eve doesn't have an adam's apple: a dictionary of sex differences. the first page we happened to stumble upon displayed two charts - one that listed the ten leading causes of death for men in 1992 and another for women. the first two leading causes of death were the same for men and women: 1) heart disease, and 2) cancer. the third leading cause of death for women was cerebrovascular disease. the third leading cause of death for men was... get this...

accidents.

ACCIDENTS. debra and i burst out laughing in the middle of barnes and noble. i mean, accidents! how funny is that! (well, not that funny because it's death, but still.) and when i think of accidents, for some reason, i don't think of things like car accidents. i think of things like walking into a wall or tripping over a crack or falling down the stairs. so it just struck me as especially funny.

accidents... *shakes head*

aborn is getting married!

i'm sorry to be so blunt, but it's exciting!! the first one of us to get married. it's craaazy! it makes me want to go "EEEEEEEEE!!!" and wave my hands in the air. it also made me want to look at senior ball pictures which, of course, made me want to look at old high school pictures and now i'm all nostalgic. aww... he's getting married. that's so sweet. congratulations!! it's still a few months away, but debra has already asked me, "what are we going to wear?" because, clearly, it is the most pressing issue at the moment. (well, it is.)

yes, i do realize it's been a while since i last updated. i've been slowing down a lot with blogs. i was going to write that i don't really have any time to update, but that would be a lie. i'm just not really motivated to write even though life is going pretty well and i'm having a lot of fun at home.

so let's see... went camping in santa cruz last weekend. overall, it was a great trip. i loved it. i would definitely say i had more fun on this trip than last year's trip even though it was shorter and we didn't do as much. but i think the main reasons for that are: 1) i wasn't sick to my stomach this time, and 2) no vernal falls! curse that damn waterfall!! *shakes fist in air*

thursday, we met up at my house to load up my mother's suv and bobby's suv. it was quite a squeeze with nine people, equipment, food, sleeping bags, and packs. i drove my mother's suv which was quite scary. windy roads and a first time suv-driver don't exactly make for the safest trip, but we all made it to the camp site in one piece. the driving gods were with me that day.

once we got there, the mosquitos started their attack. now normally, i don't get bitten by mosquitos but these mosquitos were vicious and i got bitten a few times. definitely not as bad as some people though (poor ha, poor deb). we played manhunt, but we didn't fully think the game through and no one was found. apparently, it's too hard to find people in the woods at night. who'da thunk. the first night was pretty cold and some of us regretted not bringing pants (*ahem*). see? it pays to be a "just-in-case" kind of girl. actually, i was pretty cozy in the tent because it was so small.

anyway, friday was spent at the boardwalk. well, on the beach, technically. playing in the water, lounging around, napping/tanning, playing frisbee & volleyball, watching people build weird things out of sand. it was all lots of fun. and i tanned a bit. finally. i've got a pretty bad bikini bottom tan though. this night was definitely not as cold though. unfortunately, the next campsite over was invaded by a large group of little (LOUD) boys who ran around our campsite hitting each other with plastic bags filled with things and calling each other "bony." it was a little cute at first until they woke us up early the next morning. grrr. went home early on saturday and hung out at deb's house trying to finish a lot of the food.

all in all, i loved it. i just loved not being sick and relaxing outside with a great group of friends.

aborn is getting married!! ahhhhhhhh!!

[sorry. can't help it. it's exciting.]
