i knit a hat!

okay, so it doesn't actually fit on my head (even though i followed the pattern for a medium size) and it's pretty damn ugly and there are random stitches sticking out everywhere (i don't even know how that happened) BUT it's my first non-rectangular knitting project! (not including my very first knitting project that was supposed to be a scarf but somehow turned into a wavy chunk of...nothing.)

i know what i did wrong so the next time i make it, hopefully, i will actually be able to wear it. but yay! i've FINALLY progressed from a scarf and a blanket. so this christmas, all of you will be getting knit hats from me. and they'll all be the same color. because i'm that cheap.

next up: making a hat using four double pointed needles and circular needles. SCARY.

i think my house is haunted

weird things have been going on in my house lately. while i'm sure there are perfectly reasonable, scientific explanations for each of these occurences, i'm too lazy to figure each of them out and "my house is haunted" is an easy way to just explain everything all at once.

tonight, as i was sitting on the couch watching tv and reading a magazine, my tv started to turn itself off and on repeatedly. this happened maybe three times with the tv turning off and on three or four times each time. the remote was on the table and i hadn't touched it. the power hadn't gone off because i checked other appliances each time it happened. other weird things have happend in the past month as well. like the fan over the stove turning itself on for no reason (both fans were on the off switch). or the time when mike's xbox told us "you played better than derek!" in a little girl's voice after we had played a game of bomberman. that last one sounds weird but that's what happened! there was also that one time a couple years ago where i woke up in the middle of the night randomly only to see my bedroom door slowly open even though no one was there (my bedroom door is always closed. i use another door to go in and out.)

so either the electricity in my house is all wonky or my house is haunted. i have no idea about that door thing though.

too much guitar hero

yay! blogging for the first time from my new laptop. i feel like carrie from sex and the city. except i'm not voicing over what i'm typing as i type it. or AM I? (hey, that last post was my 1300th post!)

how sad is it that the only time i have to play hours and hours of guitar hero is when my boyfriend is out at a party or a strip club on a saturday night? hmm. that sounds really sad, maybe i shouldn't have said that. since mike's xbox crapped out last month, all the work i did from the first time i played guitar hero went poof (i had beaten almost every level; i only had three or four songs left on expert). so i've used that as an excuse to go back and play everything all over again. even though i hadn't played in a while, things were a lot easier this second time. i got gold stars on 11 of the songs on medium! the rest of the songs, i missed like one or two notes on each but was too lazy to redo them. it was kinda frustrating, but in the end, laziness won out. i'm halfway through hard now and i have to take a break because my arms and eyes hurt. man. it's addicting.

(just so i don't sound like a total loser for posting about guitar hero, now i've gotta write about other stuff that's been going on.)

last night, we went out to etiquette for jen's bday. nice place, not bad. definitely been to worse places; wouldn't mind going back there again. had lots of fun drinking and dancing with the girls; man, felt like we hadn't done that in ages. i hadn't had a drink in like months (actually, i can't even remember the last time i had a drink) so i managed to get drunk off one raspberry kamikaze. cheapest. drunk. EVER. i could probably just smell the bar and get drunk. at least i didn't puke this time. felt like it, but i refused to. no matter how much it's true, i can't be known as "that girl who always pukes every time we go out." i think it's both funny and sad that jo was like "i have to go, otherwise who'll take cherry to the bathroom to puke?" anyway, we need to do this again soon. i need to rebuild my tolerance! to TWO drinks! bootie next month! and then vegas with the girls! yes! more exclamation marks!!!

speaking of which, i'll actually be going to vegas in a couple weeks with mike. and then, exactly one month later, i'll be going to vegas again with the girls. i'll definitely be all vegas-ed out after that. but i haven't had a vacation in a long time so...i need this.

okay, so not much else has been going on. i really am just a loser. i'm gonna go eat a chocolate toffee ice cream bar now.
