just got back from allyn/mel/grace/helen's place. had dinner there. helen and her high school friends from calexico were cooking and bbq-ing so allyn called us around 6 or something to invite us over. sad thing is...till she called, i was still in my pajamas. but then again, i woke up like, a little before noon. since neha went home for the weekend and natasha went out to perform with her indian dance club thingy, it was just me and sanaz. we went over, chilled with allyn and dave and grace a little since they weren't finished cooking yet and allyn gave me a burned copy of the moulin rouge soundtrack!! i was just like, free food AND a free cd all in one night!! i should go to their place more often! ;) oh, i hear sanaz coming up the stairs. should probably go unlock the door.....eh. whatever. :)

i am such a bum.

hmm...i just realized something. i'm only taking three classes this quarter and i'm taking physics for pass/no pass. so that means that two classes will be making up my gpa for the quarter. oh dear...

ohmygod, i look like my mother. help.

i just had a thought. my physics ta is kinda cute. you know how my physics discussions are optional? yeah, i think i'll go check him - i mean them - out. ;)

hey, had a total twilight zone moment today. checked out the blog girls webring. looked at the new sites that had been added. there was one entitled "project cherry" - the title that i had actually been considering for this blogger. it turns out that the girl who owns that blogger is also named cherry, also lives in california, and was ALSO born on december 25. trippy, no? i emailed the girl and introduced myself. jo pointed out that she might think i'm just pulling her leg or something, so i gave her the link to this blog. so, cherry, if you're reading this now, hi!! if not...well, i just said hi to myself. :)

la la la....i had two ham and cheese sandwiches today. i think i'm slowly getting addicted to those. not that it's a bad thing since it's better than eating chips and candy all day, but we're gonna run out of bread real soon. and i really want these groceries to last *at least* a month...hopefully, two months.

heeeeelp....it's friday night and i am booooored. i'm so bored, i'm looking at my homework assignments right now. considering starting them. and it's not even week 1 yet. (they consider this "week 0"). uuuuuggghhh...i think i'll go eat something.

i must, i must increase my bust. i don't know how, but i must. :-/

well, classes started yesterday. already finished with classes today. my schedule is very nice. originally, my physics lab and discussion were both tba so i didn't know how long my schedule would be nice for. but actually, it turns out that the lab is only once this quarter and the discussions, while still tba, are optional. so i have a lovely, lovely schedule. start at 10 everyday except thursday when i only have one class at 1245. end everyday at noon except for tuesdays and thursdays when i end at 2. fell asleep in physics today. the prof seems really nice but my god is he boring. "physics is interesting. physics is hard. why is physics interesting? why is physics hard?" uuuuggghhh...

so far, linguistics seems like my easiest and most interesting class. specifically, we'll be studying the deaf culture. took a sign language class like waaaaay back in junior high, so i don't really remember much except for the alphabet and some random words. forgot A LOT of italian over the summer. this is exactly what i was afraid of. and the teacher is psycho too. it's bad enough that i don't remember much italian, but this lady was like *speed-talking* in italian. i managed to understand most of it, but my head was like reeling. i was so happy to go to physics afterwards because at least they speak english in that class. i think those two classes, italian and physics, will be my hardest. italian doesn't seem so bad because it's just reading and writing two-three page papers, but since i forgot so much, it won't be so easy. and physics; physics just sucks.

mmm...i'm hungry. time for another sandwich. and then some mario kart. :)

mmm...today was another good day. well, it didn't start out as one, but it ended up as one. :) woke up with an ache-y tummy, so i kinda just half-sat/half-lay around on my bed playing mario kart till i felt better. then went to the building meeting. our ra, carlos, is so much cooler than our ra last year, natasha. natasha was just...well, annoying. he strikes me as one of those teddy bear guys - big and loveable. anyway, building meeting took about an hour, then i went to ikea and wal-mart with melissa, grace, helen, and allyn. ikea's so cool. couldn't resist buying stuff that i didn't really need. like a blue mug and that silver lantern that's like, all over the store. me and melissa really really wanted it since it was only six bucks, but we were just like mulling over the decision for like, forever. the thing that kept me from buying it the last time i went to ikea is the fact that the lantern uses tealight (i love that word!) candles and they sold a bag of 100 tealights next to the lanterns for like five bucks and i was like, i don't need a *hundred* candles. finally, grace just suggested that we each buy a lantern and like split up the bag of tealights. good idea. :) so we ended up each buying one. i love it!!! it's so useless though. it just looks real pretty.

so then we went home after that, all exhausted cuz, well...i don't really know why we were so exhausted. we just were. got home and started cleaning and cutting some fruit and vegetables in the kitchen with sanaz, neha, and natasha. it was pretty fun. we were just goofing off and stuff. before that, ben had asked us if we wanted to come over for dinner so we decided to make salad too since they were cooking for us and we had all the vegetables out anyway. so yeah, just got back from dinner. it was gooood. mmmm.....

man, welcome week is over. it was so short! classes start tomorrow. :-/ my first day won't be too bad though since i only have one class and it starts at like 2 pm. :) ooh! and they're playing moulin rouge at the price center theatre tomorrow!! the price center theatre is like a super saver sorta and they play movies every tuesdays and thursdays at 7 and 10 pm for like $2. i'm glad classes start on thursday too cuz it'll be like class on thursday, class on friday, then weekend!!

dude, i spent so much money today and i still feel like going clothes shopping this weekend. this is baaaad... :-/

ahhh...i love being back in san diego. it's great. :) i'm happy. saw chris tonight (chris who lived in atlantis last year, not chris chen). screamed and jumped up and down and got lifted up into the air by him. was just like old times. =D everyone was at allyn/grace/helen/melissa's apartment cuz allyn and dave cooked dinner (tequila fettucine! yum!) for us. i baked brownies. :) baked two batches cuz the baking pan my mom gave me is a small, cheap-ass one and wouldn't have baked enough for everyone. had a bit of a mishap with the first batch cuz i didn't butter the pan and i tried removing the brownies without letting them cool down enough so i got a lot of broken brownies and brownie crumbs. :-/ that sucked. but whatever, everyone still liked the ones that i eventually brought down to the girls' apartment. must admit, they were yummy. :)

after that, we (me, helen, grace, melissa, chris, and big mike) went to the dance at warren. it was pretty good, lotsa fun! met up with li'l mike, natasha, sandeep, and matt there. eventually we somehow ended up like, RIGHT next to the speaker so when we all got home, our ears were like ringing and everything sounded muted. oh well. really missed dancing with everyone so tonight was great. :) helen and her brother, eric, are so funny together. the ja rule-j. lo song came on and they started dancing and singing together. ;)

hmm...what else did i do today...? well, woke up late, sat around a lot, then finally brushed my teeth and took a shower. oh yeah, went to the book store with helen, melissa, grace, and allyn. got one book. :) didn't have to get my physics book since i borrowed jen's. and don't know what books to get for italian, so didn't get those. so i only got my lingustics book. it's cheap and short!! yay!!!

owww....i'm tired. started like swaying at the dance a couple times so helen grabbed me and shook me violently to wake me up. anyway, don't know why, but i feel like playing some mario kart before i go to sleep, so i think i will. :)

...and here goes my first post from beautiful, sunny san diego!! :) it's getting a bit late right now but i feel like if i don't blog now about the past few days, i'm never gonna blog about it, so yes...this will be quite a long blog.

let's start with the drive down. my dad and i ended up driving straight down to san diego. left around 9 am, arrived around 5 pm. so 8 hours total, stops and all!! we made pretty good time. it sure was sweltering on the way down though. it was unbelievably sunny like everywhere in california (well, okay, everywhere south of the bay area). not that i'm complaining though. i'm a summer girl, so i like my weather hot. ;) anyway, we stayed at a travelodge motel for the night. checked in around 6. the room we got was reeeaaally nice for a motel. like, it was the only room on their third floor which, actually, wasn't a full floor. it was like a half floor, so the single room basically had its own private little terrace thing. we were high up and close enough to see the beautiful blue pacific ocean as well. we arrived just in time to watch the sun set over the ocean. :) the room ALSO had a computer *with* internet connection!! made me very happy. :) was able to get onto aim express and chat. tried to blog from there, but the computer was hella ghetto and wouldn't let me type out a very long blog. in its own darling way, it was telling me to shut up. anyway, went to bed early, woke up early.

arrived at the matthews apartments around 930. i was the first one to arrive at my apartment, yay!! which meant i got to choose which bed i wanted, yayay!! rearranged a few things. let my dad bring EVERYTHING up. christina called when we just got on campus to tell me she was going out soon, so i had to go get the key to the storage unit. but when i got to her apartment, she wasn't there!! luckily, her roommates were still there, so i hung out with them and waited till she got back. so i was at her apartment for a long while. long enough for my dad to unload the entire car. i feel kinda bad, but well... what's done is done. first person i saw that day was smita. we screamed and shrieked and did that whole girl thing...ran up to each other giddily and hugged. then i left for christina's place. had a little trouble finding it cuz i wasn't used to being back on campus. but yeah, after that, i came back to find out that my dad had finished unloading everything. oh wait! before that, i called melissa's cell to see if she had arrived yet, and she had, so on my way back to my apartment, i stopped off at hers and did the whole screaming/shrieking/hugging thing again (with a little jumping up and down included). so we unpacked a little, then neha came!! did the whole screaming/shrieking/hugging/jumping up and down thing again. then my dad and i left to get our stuff out of storage. came back to find sanaz, allyn, and dave!! it was funny cuz first i hear sanaz's voice call out, "hey dave!!" so i turn and see sanaz and yes, did the whole screaming/shrieking/hugging/jumping up and down thing yet again, then i think "dave?? what?" and then i see allyn running toward me and repeated the whole scene. said hi to dave as well. (he's not a girl; that scene works only with girls. :) saw ben while me and sanaz were walking back to our apartment. dad and i unloaded the storage stuff then started hooking up my computer and all that crap. during that time, natasha finally came. of course, repeated the whole screaming/shrieking/blahblahblah thing again. dad finished hooking things up, so he left around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. i spent the rest of the day unpacking. like MAJOR unpacking. i had so much crap. un-freaking-believable. finally finished at night around like, i dunno 8 pm? saw grace, matt, sandeep, and little mike during the whole unpacking thing. then we went out to islands for dinner. i forgot what HUGE burgers they have. geez...i didn't even finish mine. it was 8 of us - me, neha, grace, allyn, sandeep, ben, matt, and little mike. it felt just like old times. :) *sigh* i really liked it. made me very very happy. so then, we got home, made like a huge grocery list. oh wait, before we made the grocery list, i saw helen!! ahhhhh!! that made me happy as well. konked out around 1 am. sooo tired from unpacking and screaming/shrieking/hugging/jumping like, repeatedly.

so, that brings us to today. :) woke up hecka early cuz we were gonna try to go shopping early so that sanaz could go home early and beat traffic. but turns out costco doesn't open till 11 am, so sanaz just left for home early, so it was just me and neha who went shopping. natasha had to do some work for her club so she couldn't come. i'm so proud of us though; we accomplished so much today! we hit five places (four stores, and neha's place) and came back to fill up our entire kitchen. first we went to fry's so neha could get an ethernet cable and i could get a mousepad. my new mouse pad is so cute!! it's a kim anderson one. :) next, we went to neha's place so she could pick up some utensils and plates and stuff. then we went to wal-mart to get like cleaning supplies and a utensil tray and more utensils and other random stuff like that. started getting hungry so we ate at the mcdonald's there. hit costco next. ohhhhh man, costco was crazy. well, the store wasn't that crowded at all, it's just, we got a SHITLOAD of food. ohmygod. this was worse than shopping for the barbecue. i couldn't even push the cart. (no, it is NOT because i'm small). and i almost ran into a pole. you know those white pillar thingies they have smack dab in the middle of the frozen food aisle? yeah, one of those. i was looking at our grocery list, holding it up in front of my face. i lowered it JUST in time to see thise huge white pole thing like two inches from my face. neha, kindly enough, did not warn me and stood there laughing like a hyena. so after costco, we hit albertson's. was much better; not nearly as much food. mostly just produce and frozen food. the whole time we were shopping though, we kept thinking, man...we're gonna have such fun trying to get all these groceries back to the apartment since, as it turns out, the parking lot is not very close to our apartment. when we finally finished shopping (took us like 5 hours total - but then again, we ate lunch somewhere in there), neha's car was FULL of groceries. nothing else could fit in the trunk and we filled up the entire back seat. good thing it was just me and neha that went.

so we finally get home around 430. get out of the car and bring the first load to the apartment. after that first load, we realized that we needed help. manly help. so we walked next door to ben, mike, jon (who is not here yet), and matt's apartment. while we were just about to walk up the stairs, i noticed one of the shopping carts someone used to move in underneath the staircase. i pointed it out to neha and we thought, "oh, how funny," then all of a sudden a light bulb hit neha and she looked at me like "hey...!!!!" took me about 30 seconds to figure out what she was thinking (my light bulb is apparently much dimmer) and then we both burst out laughing. so we took that shopping cart and used it to unload the rest of the groceries. took two more trips. good thing we found it. could you imagine the two of us trying to unload those groceries by hand? good lord. had a bit of a problem trying to maneuver it back to the apartment with the first load of groceries though. i was shoving the thing up a slight incline on this narrow path. i noticed two joggers (male and shirtless...helloooo...) jogging toward me so i steered the incredibly heavy shopping cart onto the grass slightly so that they would have room to pass. but just as i did that, they turned onto another path, making my effort useless and also making me now stuck in the grass. the stupid cart wouldn't move!! i felt like such an idiot trying to push this thing back onto the path. uuurrrr...*embarrassed look*.

anyway, we finally got all the groceries into the apartment. spent the rest of the afternoon rearranging all the kitchen stuff (pots, pans, bowls, plates, utensils, etc) and putting away all the groceries. when we were finally done, i felt wonderfully satisfied. we accomplished a lot today!! and now our apartment feels so much more lived in. our fridge is full!! our shelves are stocked!! everything is so nice. i love our apartment. i love it so much. there's nothing really special about it, but it just feels so apartment-y. hmm...i don't know how to describe it. our rooms are much spacier than last year's rooms too, but duh, obviously, they would be since they're apartment rooms and not dorm rooms. i mean, just this evening, we had like seven people in me and tasha's bedroom and it wasn't even a squeeze at all.

helen fell asleep on my floor just like last year. :) i felt like it christened the room. like, it wasn't really my room till she fell asleep on its floor. oh yeah, tasha brought n64 and it's hooked up to my tv right now. maaaan, we are so gonna have problems with distractions. the only room that has no distractions is the living room. it is the most boring room since there's no tv in it. oh well. that will be our "study" room. if we ever get around to that.

hmmm...la la la...over all, i'm happy with everything. seeing everyone (still haven't seen wendy, victoria, chris, or jon yet though) and moving in and unpacking and everything. loving it all. PLUS the weather in la jolla is beeeeaaaauutiful!! i couldn't ask for more. :) anyway, must sleep now. is 2 am. never gonna wake up tomorrow. glad i don't have to wake up early. must learn to blog more often, but i was really busy the past two days so this is actually the first chance i've had to blog. aaaaanyway, good night!! :)
